Latest Updates from Our Project:

New Digital Instructions Manual! PAX West! PAX Unplugged!
over 4 years ago – Tue, Aug 20, 2019 at 02:56:16 AM

Salutations.

We've been hard at work bringing improvements to the game, getting logistics set up for conventions, and playtesting some new game modes.

RULES UPDATE!

After we shipped the game, we listened to feedback from everyone here on Kickstarter, at shows like Gen Con, on BoardGameGeek.com, and Twitter. The largest piece of feedback was that the rules and cards needed some clarifications, so we hired a board game rules editor (his previous editing job was on Root) to help clarify things a bit. If you want to download the digital version of the rules, go to this dropbox link and download the PDF. You can also find the rules on our website as well

For the Character, Relic, and Artifact cards, we'll plan on making updates available from our next Kickstarter.

PAX WEST AND PAX UNPLUGGED

PAX West is coming up August 30th to September 2nd, and if you'll be in the evergreen city of Seattle visiting the con, come say hi! We'll be demoing games, talking nerdy, and unearthing rotting demon corpses beneath the catacombs of the convention center... but mostly just demoing the game.

We'll also be at PAX Unplugged in Philly, December 6-8th! I'm sure it'll be cold, but stop by and warm yourself by the burning remains of our slain foes. It'll be fun.

New Game Mode and New Heroes

We're still playtesting the new heroes, mostly trying to tone down their ridiculously overpowered abilities, but we've also been experimenting with a Co-Op version of the game. Basically we're giving every Hero in the game boss abilities, new movements, and what is effectively an AI to help the bosses move and attack on their own. The early games have been promising, but there's a lot to figure out, balance, and test... hell it may not even turn into something if it isn't fun enough, so don't get too excited just yet!

While it's still too early for a wider playtests, if you're interested in the future, we'll send out a message asking for alpha playtesters if it turns out to be a fun experience.

Thanks to everyone that's given us feedback, support, and stories from game experiences they've had with Brutality. It means quite a bit to us, and we appreciate it.

Gen Con Report and New Rules
over 4 years ago – Wed, Aug 07, 2019 at 02:09:59 AM

Hey there, friends.

Gen Con:

We had a fantastic and hectic time at Gen Con. Table Titans (our glorious publisher) hosted us at their booth, and hot damn did we have fun. In fact a few Kickstarter Backers stopped by to say hello and play a few games. During demos, you'd think that Frost would take it easy on newbies, but that was not the case. Mercy is for the weak. Also if you think Frost won 100% of the games, that was also not the case. Gen Con gamers pick up games quick and also understand that only the brutal survive. It was savage, to say the least. Thanks for helping us get the game made so we could introduce it to the masses at Gen Con.

Rules Updates:

In other news, we have our new rules up on our website. We're still waiting on the 100% version as there are a few page references that need to be added to it, but otherwise it's had an editor review pass (from the Rules Editor of Root) and a graphic design pass for further clarification. You can check it out here:

 https://www.brutalityboardgame.com/instructions

We had a pass on the cards as well, but those have not been uploaded to the site.

If you want to help us out and rate us on Board Game Geek, we'd appreciate it! We're sitting at a 7.9 out of 10, and any help to bump that up would be most epic. Most. Epic.

Thanks!

Shipping update! Brutality at Gen Con! New heroes!
almost 5 years ago – Thu, Jul 18, 2019 at 08:45:34 PM

Salutations.

It's been a bit since we last sent out an update, but we've been busy working on a few things.

1. All games were shipped out across the globe. If you didn't get your copy of the game, please send us a message here on Kickstarter and we'll figure out what happened. (Don't leave a comment on this post because we might miss it! Send a message.) We've had a few people not receive their boxes because they were not home to sign for them, some folks moved, etc.

2. We've worked with the Rules Editor from the game Root (Joshua Yearsley) to do an updated version of our rulebook. We're making some graphic design changes, but once they are good to go, we'll upload the new rule updates to our website and make them available to view for all our backers. We also updated Relics, Artifacts, and Character cards.

3. We're going to be at Gen Con this year! We'll be at the Table Titans booth. If you plan on going, stop by and say hello! We'll be demoing the game and talking about board games, video games, metal, and whatever else is best in life.

Look out for the Table Titan's booth with these guys.

4. We're developing some new heroes! For our next season, we'll be introducing healers into the game. One is a Crusader and the other is a Heretic Slayer. We've got a Siege Master that has a massive Crossbow that doubles as a battering ram, who also lays traps. There're also 2 characters that count as one Hero choice... they are the undead mercenaries Slash and Hack. They are all still in early development, but they are already showing some game changing potential.

We've been playtesting some new heroes. Ed Crane (artist that made the Righteous Executioner and Grave Keeper figures) clashed against my team of undead brothers and a heretic slayer sister.

Thanks for all the support and feedback! If you haven't had a moment to leave a rating of Brutality on Board Game Geek, we'd greatly appreciate it. We're sitting at about an 7.9/10 right now, and it'd definitely help us if you could show us some love.

Thanks,

Frost

Brutality EU Shipping, PAX East, Rules Updates, Mini Painting, And More...
about 5 years ago – Fri, Apr 12, 2019 at 01:54:07 AM

Salutations, fiends. Here's what's new with Brutality.

 EU and World Wide Backers:

There is a slight delay with shipping, unfortunately. We're finishing up a deal with a distributor in England so we can send the boxes to the EU, and the details are close to finished. We were hoping to get this done sooner, but it's taken a bit longer than we'd hoped. If we sent the boxes out ourselves, it'd be well over the amount we collected for shipping by a significant amount. We are working to get the fastest way of shipping all the boxes to the distribution center so we can to be cost effective and get everyone their boxes as quickly as possible. Apologies for the delays, we've been working over the past few weeks to get this situated and we're close to getting it solidified. We'll send out an update when the boxes are on their way to the distribution center.

PAX East:

We had a great time at PAX East. We had 3 demo stations that were full pretty much all day. In fact we met a few backers of the game at the show, and it was great to talk with everyone. The shipping company also lost one of our containers... which had copies of the game and our booth in it. The Table Titans crew had to make a booth from PVC Pipes and Table cloth from a local hardware store, and then got some signs made after a few trips to Kinkos. Luckily the other shipped container made it to the show, which had some Brutality boxes. The shipping company is now sending the missing container back to us this week... so that was interesting. On the game side, one of the best combos I saw at the show:

God Killer impaled and slammed someone into a catapult, which launched them into a spike wall, which knocked them into a fire tile, then they mind controlled that character using the Crown of Sorrow Artifact making them walk through more fire, then walked them into the same catapult and launched them into spikes and flames again. IT. WAS. RUDE.

Rulebook and FAQ Page:

We've heard feedback from folks that the rules could use some clarifications. We're in talks with an Editor who works specifically with board game companies, and we'll be doing an updated version of the rules. In the meantime, we've also updated the Brutality website to have a FAQ page. If you have questions about anything, feel free to post them on Brutality's Board Game Geek forum, as we've been answering them there.

Brutality Figure Painting:

Check out these badass painted figures! We've linked their Twitter names if you want to check out more of their work.

What's Next?

Well first thing's first, we have to get everyone their boxes. After that, we'll be focusing on rules 2.0 along with our FAQ page. On top of that, Frost has been working on some new Heroes and game modes...

Thanks for all the support,

Shipping Updates and Brutality Tips Video
about 5 years ago – Mon, Mar 18, 2019 at 03:07:53 AM

Salutations Heathens.

We have sent a large amount of Brutality out. In fact some of our backers have already posted images with their boxes in hand on social media. We're shipping from Oregon, and here's the estimated time table for shipping to everyone

  •  US West Coast: This week, backers on the West Coast of the US should be getting their boxes.
  •  US Middle America: Next week, backers should be getting their boxes.
  •  US East Coast: Next week, backers should be getting their boxes.
  •  Canada: In 2-3 weeks our Northern neighbors will get their boxes.
  •  EU: We are shipping all boxes to a fulfillment center in the UK, from there the boxes will be sent all over Europe. It's about 3 weeks to ship to EU then it'll be about 2 weeks to get everything shipped to everyone.
  •  AU/Rest of the World: This could be up to 2 months. Shipping more than half way across the world (or military bases) takes some time.

Everyone should get their boxes before our projected project deadline.

And since everyone will soon be getting their copies of the game, we figured we'd make a video featuring some Brutality tips and treachery:

Thanks for all the support, we are very excited for everyone to get their gauntlets on the game.
